Although we caught a first look yesterday of Scott Sports' 2016 Addict CX 10, Sea Otter officially got underway today, with companies like Trek, Jamis, Open and Ritchey showing off some of their latest products in the world of cyclocross and gravel.
Open Cycles, owned by Cervelo founder Gérard Vroomen, is releasing their first cyclocross / gravel / adventure model, the U.P. (Unbeaten Path) which offers some serious tire clearance and asymmetric chainstays. It's showing two colors: brown and orange, and asking cyclists to vote on the final choice. We're thinking our readers will prefer the CXM orange. Vote here.
Trek is preparing for the future of cyclocross. Their showing at Sea Otter might not have been the unveiling of forward looking technology to the scale of the Boone, but they certainly had future cyclocross riders in mind with their newest KRX 26'' cantilever bike and Superfly 16. The company now has options for children of all sizes to try out cyclocross, perhaps with just a change of tires.
While Jamis showed off their carbon fiber gravel bike, the Renegade Pro, at InterBike 2014, at Sea Otter, they released the details of the Renegade's steel cousins, the Renegade Exploit and the Renegade Expat, with a TBD on the price, but a release date before next September.
