TABOR, Czech Republic- While Eli Iserbyt, Gage Hecht and Max Gulickx were fighting for the second place spot in the 2015 Junior Men’s Cyclocross World Championship Race, Simon Andreassen had crossed the finish line with the Danish flag in hand. His race surprised many as Iserbyt was the heavy favorite leading up to the race.

“I had a very good start, starting from the second row,” Andreassen reflected. “I wanted to be the first into the technical parts, and I made no mistakes.”

He reported a little more conservative riding than the truth in his interview. During the race, he risked hopping the barriers on every lap, and was the only Junior to do so in the lead group.
