After three years in Cincinnati and one in Louisville, the Pan-American Cyclocross Championships moved north of the wall to Midland, Ontario and the Silver Goose Cyclocross weekend. The races took place at Little Lake Park set along the shores of, not surprisingly, Little Lake just south of downtown Midland.

Despite being only five years old in 2018, the Pan-American Championships have become the second-biggest race on the domestic calendar for most cyclocrossers, and so the intensity of the racing is on a level usually reserved for Canadian and U.S. Nationals.

The two Elite races did not disappoint in their excitement.

In the Elite Men’s race, Curtis White (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) beat home-country favorite Michael van den Ham (Garneau – Easton p/b Transitions LifeCare) in a sprint finish.

Maghalie Rochette (CX Fever p/b Specialized) got some friendly Canadian revenge by beating Ellen Noble (Trek Factory Racing CX) in a hard-fought battle.

Magnus Sheffield (Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld) took the Junior Men win, Gage Hecht (Alpha Bicycle – Groove Subaru) won the U23 Men’s race and Clara Honsinger (Team S&M CX) took the U23 Women’s title.

Cyclocross Magazine was on-site in Midland all weekend, and part of your humble editor’s duties included race photography for all the title races.
