With most countries getting ready for their national championships this coming weekend, the 2008 U.S. championships are already a distant memory. But what if they were hosted at the same time as most of Europe? It’s not out of the question and still being discussed for future nationals after 2009′s event.

There are obviously a lot of pros and cons. With a longer calendar, you may have less overlap in UCI races, and a longer season in most regions. U.S. pros could race longer in the U.S. before going to Europe, but if they traveled over there for the race-heavy holiday season anyway, they’d have might need an extra flight to come back before worlds. And then there’s the weather…
