Mid-Atlantic Series’ Titles Coming Down to the Wire

As racers across the country move into the final legs of their seasons, the ever important series totals begin to take over a lot of minds.  Leading into some of the last races in the East, two series in the Mid-Atlantic are coming down to the wire….

BikeReg.com MABRAcross Series

Heading into this weekend’s Urban Cross in Charlottesville, Virginia, the chase for the 2009 BikeReg.com MABRAcross Elite Series Championships has come clearly into focus. The tightest race is in the Women’s division, where Lenore Pipes holds a scant 10 point lead over Jennifer Maxwell, with Elizabeth Harlow and Julie Kuliecza lurking within striking distance. The men’s race is nearly as tight as Joe Dombrowski has only a 13 point lead over first-year Elite Adam Driscoll, with Dave Weaver and Jared Nieters close behind. Of the leading four men and women, only Dombrowski, Maxwell and Kuliecza have missed a race as winning a BikeReg.com MABRAcross season title has become a major season objective for an increasing number of competitors.

MAC Series

MAC Cyclocross has released its updated point standings following its most recent race in Fair Hill Maryland on November 7. Valentin Scherz and Mo Bruno-Roy lead the incredibly tight standings in the Elite Men’s and Women’s division. In the Elite Masters, Mike Yozell has what appears to be a comfortable lead, but he is the only one of the division’s leading racers to have a full seven scores under MAC’s the best 7-of-10 scoring system, making it likely that the MAC Elite Masters will tighten up considerably following the two days of the Whitmore’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup on November 21 and 22.
