November 18, 2009; Conshohocken, PA, USA: The tightest points battles in memory come to a head this weekend for what may be the most pivotal two days of BikeReg.com MABRAcross racing this year, the Howard County Double Cross. Both the men’s and women’s elite classes see different-looking point standings this week as both Jared Neiters (Haymarket Bicycles / Home Visit) and Jennifer Maxwell (ATAC Sportswear presented by The Bike Lane) leapfrogged into the points lead following their victories at last week’s Urban Cross at Ix.
Neiters leads RAAM champion Adam Driscoll of Adventures for the Cure by a mere 14 points. Maxwell leads 2008 Pennsylvania State Champion Lenore Pipes of C3-Athletes Serving Athletes by only twenty points, and the top four riders in both Elite classes are separated by 90 point or less. With 120 points for a win, and 90 points for second, every category is up for grabs this weekend.
In the Master’s classes, Dave Fuentes of Battley Harley Davidson-Sonoma extended his already substantial win with his fourth win of the year last week. Bernie Shaio rocks the 45+ with a narrow lead over Randy Root and Ron Huebner. The newly updated BikeReg.com MABRAcross series points update for every class can be seen at www.MABRA.org.
