Zolder, Belgium – Lars Boom took an impressive victory in his only World Cup performance of this season, displaying power, poise and smooth riding. On a tricky and snowy course that featured sand-like conditions, Lars Boom rode hard from the beginning of the day and showed great tenacity and balance over the hour-long course. The only rider able to stay close to him was Niels Albert, who used his technical handling and power in the snow to keep the gap at only 13 seconds. Behind Albert, Bart Wellens finally made a return to the elite podium and finished in 3rd. Sven Nys and Gerben de Knegt were locked in a difficult battle between 4th and 5th, with de Knegt eventually winning out and taking 4th.
