Lars Boom had a brilliant career in cyclocross before heading over to the road full-time. And today during Stage 5 of the Tour de France, that background paid off. In the cobble stage that knocked the defending champion Chris Froome out of contention and terrified the peloton, Boom was able to return to his ’cross roots and ride the cobbles with ease and style.
