Last season, Mathieu van der Poel (Corendon – Circus) won 31 UCI races—32 if you include the Soudal Classics Masters race. This season, Van der Poel was looking for an encore performance by trying to pick up his 32nd UCI win of the season.

As he had done in 94 percent of the races coming into Sunday’s Brico Cross Hulst finale, Van der Poel won on home soil in the Netherlands.

Fellow Dutchman Lars van der Haar (Telenet Fidea Lions) finished second and in a mirror of the Elite Women’s race, U23 World Champion Tom Pidcock (TP Racing) finished third.

Eric Thompson (MSpeedwax.com) finished 27th, Andrew Juiliano (GritWorld Racing p/b Voler) 28th and Dylan Postier (Garneau – Easton p/b Transitions LifeCare) 33rd.
