Bart Wellens got spoofed. But all in good, Belgian fun!

It’s always interesting to realize that in Europe, ’crossers are rock stars. In fact, not only are they in tabloids and on their own reality shows, occasionally, they’re even victims of TV spoofs. In this case, the “victim” was Bart Wellens.

You can watch the spoof video from the Belgian talk show ‘The Ideal World’ below, thanks to Vier.be, and check out why we were rolling on the ground laughing when we saw it. Among the bits of “cycling advice” Wellens offers are the tips like “If you crash, wait until the camera goes back to the leaders before you cry,” and offers advice on podium protocol “if Sven Nys happens to be sick that day.”

The original video was a “tips for kids” bit that Wellens had on his site, and the spoof was from a Belgian comedian doing Wellen’s voice, which aired last Tuesday during the talk show. Think it’s a bit much? Our Euro correspondent Christine Vardaros explained that in Belgium, they don’t need to have approval from athletes to run comedy bits like that, and judging by his Twitter, Wellens found it pretty funny too.
