Yorkshire Cyclocross
I’ve read tons of blog posts, facebook updates and tweets about ‘cross season “only” being x (with “x” being about five, now) months away. I think for most US-based riders, this countdown trend started right on cue on December 14th – the day after Nationals. Obviously we ‘crossers love our sport and look forward to getting back to it after our summer “off-season.” But fact of the matter is, there’s a full-on, ten race series that starts up May 5th, if you’re willing to travel a bit, and the entry fee is only £7.00 (less for Juniors).
Britain’s Yorkshire Summer Cyclo-Cross Series has a history of over ten years, with each event attracting approximately 100 participants. The first race is at the Oakbank School in Keighley on Wednesday, May 5th. The series continues through to August 11th, with two Sunday races and the other eight on Wednesday evenings – the perfect opportunity to keep you ‘cross fix and allow you to pursue your offseason endeavors on the weekends.
