Woodall Outsprints St. Germain in Masters Men 30-34 at the 2015 National Championships: Race Report, Full Results

Austin, TX-The fastest race yet of day two started with Kevin McConnell (Iowa City Cycling Club) and Westley Richards (Clemmons Bicycle Racing) leading the stampede. Seconds behind them was Adam St. Germain (ENGVT), chasing hard in fourth.

As the leaders worked together in an attempt to build their lead, St. Germain pulled the fastest lap time of the day and closed the gap to them. Ryan Woodall came from behind, dangling off the lead group as St. Germain attacked. St. Germain gained a small lead, but McConnell, Richards, and Woodall brought him back.

With one to go, the lead group was all together. Richards attacked, was brought back by McConnell. Woodall moved to the front of the group, taking advantage of a crash behind him to attack. St. Germain followed, but hit the pavement second. Despite being a strong sprinter, St. Germain couldn’t come around Woodall.

“I almost didn’t race. I’ve been so sick,” said Woodall. “But it’s the National Championships – you gotta come!”
