When Tim Faia took the win in the Men’s 45-49, he was shocked. In fact, he crossed the line saying, “How did that happen?” We caught up with an incredulous Faia post-race to find out what went on during the race.

On his training… I started riding on Monday, since the 12th of December. I’ve just been doing a lot of ‘skimo’, ski-mountaineer stuff. And I got ready just by doing that and it all worked out.

On his tactics… I remember thinking second lap, when I was riding with Michael and Don, that I felt really good where I was riding.”  “I just kind of stayed at that pace and opportunities presented themselves and I just went.

On being surprised at the result… Well, I wanted to 10 today. I got top 10, I think, didn’t I?

On what’s next… I have to get home to pick up my kids from school, but I have to do podiums first.
