U.S. Cyclocross star Stephen Hyde is making some big changes for the upcoming cyclocross season.
The three-time Cyclocross National Champ revealed on Instagram he’s “adding coaching to my quiver.”
Hope to #ridelikehyde? You might want to get in line to be one of his early clients. Hyde explained it’s something he’s “been working on for a long time.”
The second announcement might be a bigger surprise, as he’s leaving the Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld powerhouse team. “After five seasons on @cdalecxworld I was not offered a contract for the 20/21 season,” Hyde explained in a post filled with gratitude for the opportunity with the team.
Hyde won two Pan American titles and three USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships while flying the Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld colors for five seasons.
Think the uncertain times and sponsorship will force the star into early retirement? Hyde put such fears to rest. “I’m not retiring,” he assures fans.

I think my vagueness has led to some miscommunication. Allow me to catch you up. 1. I’m adding coaching to my quiver. It’s very exciting and something I have actually been working on for a long time. 2. After five seasons on @cdalecxworld I was not offered a contract for the 20/21 season. Times are hard in bike racing. I love every minute of being on that program and can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done for me. I leave the program with a full ❤️. 3. I am not retiring. These changes couldn’t possibly have come at a worse time. But have I ever backed down? I’m taking this time to reflect on what I want my relationship with racing to look like. Taking into account all the variables given. It’s a tough landscape to navigate and I need to be honest with these realities. . THANK YOU. To everyone reaching out with support or encouragement. It’s absolutely blown my mind seeing the overwhelming positivity in these tough and uncertain times. When my mind is uneasy I rest in my heart. When I can’t do it alone, I lean on those around me. Thank you all for being in my corner. #ridelikehyde #dontcallitacomeback
