On Sunday, 15 North American riders stormed the iconic sand dunes of World Cup Koksijde. Six Junior men raced as part of EuroCrossCamp, eight women raced in the Elite Women's race and the Wisco Disco Brian Matter lined up for the Elite Men's race.
At his annual MontanaCrossCamp, Geoff Proctor stresses the importance of running when racing cyclocross in Europe. The six Junior men saw firsthand why running is such an integral part of the Montana camp's curriculum. Riders were off the bike several times per lap, including two long stretches with their bikes hoisted over their shoulders.
Katie Compton (KFC Racing p/b Trek Knight) had the top North American finish, placing 13th after riding inside the top 5 during the first half of the race. You can read about the races in our Women's race report and Men's race report.
As he does when North American riders head to Europe, photographer Bart Hazen trained his camera their way. Head to the sands of Koksijde with his photo gallery from the race.
