Mongoose made their name with BMX more than 4 decades ago, and that prominence carried into the early years of mountain biking and even cyclocross. Todd Wells and Marc Gullickson raced as the dynamic duo of the 2002 and 2003 seasons together for Hyundai-Mongoose.

Although Mongoose has mostly maintained its position in BMX, the rest of the line lost its luster, with the brand available at Walmart in the recent past. Mongoose is out to change that though with its new Selous Expert gravel grinder bike for $1999 USD.

The Selous is constructed of double butted aluminum with a tapered head tube and paired with a carbon-legged 100X15mm thru-axle fork with a tapered aluminum steerer and crown. The frame is 142X12mm thru rear axle with post mounts for the disc brake calipers. The Expert model comes decked out with Shimano 105 with R685 mechanical shifters and hydraulic disc brakes. WTB Nano 40mm tires come on the bike's Alex Volar rims.

Pro and Comp models are also available with the Comp starting at $899 USD.

Mongoose bikes are available direct to the customer online.
