Lindine powered a 64 inch gear in the form of 40 x 17, one of the taller gears in the race, and was using a SRAM CX1 wide/narrow tooth ring because he “had it laying around.”

The gear contrasts greatly from the low gear Tim Allen’s 36 x 17 used to win the 2014 Singlespeed National Championship title in Boulder (see Allen’s Foundry bike profile here), and is almost as tall as the 36×15 Brady Kappius used to finish second last year.

Justin Lindine's Singlespeed Redline Conquest was powered by strong legs and an FSA SL-K light carbon crankset with the CX1 chainring set to the outer position. 2015 Cyclocross National Championships © Cyclocross Magazine
