Thinking about the great racing to come this week at the Cyclocross National Championships in Asheville also has us thinking about the gear that folks will be riding on their way to the title. Last year in Austin we saw some interesting bikes and some tried and trued set-ups that propelled their pilots to the podium's top step and the title of National Champion.

America’s most prolific cyclocross racer, Katie Compton, has had more championship winning bikes than anyone else. Eleven. Last year in Austin Compton kept the streak alive aboard a custom-painted Trek Boone 9 Disc, seen here. She’ll likely be back on the same model bike, but will she make it a dozen titles in Asheville?
