Racers at day one of the Resolution Cross Cup were treated to slick conditions on course, with the Texas skies opening up right before the start of Saturday’s UCI Elite Races.
Elite Women
The Elite Women’s race was won by Courtenay McFadden (GE Capital/American Classic), who took the lead early as the course conditions turned from slippery to sticky mud.

McFadden (who was profiled in Cyclocross Magazine Issue 30), fought off a hard-charging group containing Sunny Gilbert (Michelob Ultra/Big Shark), Amanda Nauman (SDG – Muscle Monster) and Beth Ann Orton (Kona). McFadden’s pace stayed steady and she was able to pull off a four-second win over the quickly-closing Gilbert, with Nauman coming 51 seconds back in third place.
Elite Men
In the Elite Men’s race, Jamey Driscoll (Raleigh Clement) built on his recent string of success with a win, making quick work of his competitors and taking the victory with a 35 second gap.

The muddy course began to firm up, and riders with a dialed pit crew and the ability to take frequent bike changes were at a disctinct advantage.
Jeremy Durrin (Neon Velo) took the lead early in a group with Driscoll, Lance Haidet (Raleigh-Clement) and Troy Wells (Team Clif Bar).
Driscoll used the front group as a springboard to launch an attack and was joined by Durrin. Durrin fell off Driscoll’s pace quickly, and was joined by Allen Krughoff (Noosa Pro Cyclocross Team) to form an organized chase.
No stranger to the mud—recently winning Jingle Cross in slick conditions—Driscoll kept it smooth and upright for the win. Krughoff dispatched of Durrin with one lap to go to wrap up second place. Durrin held off a hard charging Justin Lindine for the final podium spot.
