In late October, Cyclocross Magazine teamed up with KHS Bikes to announce the give away of a CX300 Cyclocross Bike during the Design Your Dream Cyclocross Course Contest. After consulting world famous course designer Tom Stevens we had whittled down entries into our top five, which were announced last week on our Facebook Page. One design stood out clear above the others that just had it all, dual sand pits, beer tents, run ups, KHS and Cyclocross Magazine tents, fly overs, and, yes, even showers. Cyclocross Magazine and KHS Bikes would like to congratulate Brad Hayes on winning a CX300 bike!

Brad and Marek.

Brad and Marek.

We had the chance to catch up with Brad who rides for the J’s Bikes / IHOP Racing cycling team out of Indiana. Brad got back into cycling after a couple year hiatus for an all-to-common reason: to shed some of that winter weight. After winning the Indiana road race and criterium state titles in the 4’s, he grabbed a spot on the podium in the 3’s during the cyclocross state championships that same year. However, Brad’s prize KHS bike will not be going to him, but instead to his 10 year old son, Marek.

Marek has finished off his first year of racing cyclocross and even took the overall in the boys 10-14 division this past season. Marek spent the season riding on a less than ideal bike and we are looking forward to watching Marek continue riding next season upon his extra small CX300 (yes KHS makes XS cross bikes!). When you see Marek flying down the course and hoping the barriers next season on his shinny muddy new CX300 be sure to give him a shout as we are glad to see so many juniors getting into the sport of cyclocross.

The rest of our top five were give a one year Digital All Access Subscription.
