When Jim Dowd & Patricia Dowd launched their brother/sister-owned t-shirt company, I Cowbell Cyclocross, in 2011 the company’s goals were clear: sell stylish, quality t-shirts and use profits from sales to help support cyclocross races and racers.

In its first year, I Cowbell Cyclocross supported several weekly race series throughout the country and sponsored regional races in New England and the West. Additionally, I Cowbell Cyclocross provided sponsorship dollars to Logan Owen who rode to an impressive 17th place at the 2012 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Koksijde, Belgium.

For the 2012-13 season I Cowbell Cyclocross has partnered with the leader in American cyclocross, Cyclocrossworld.com, and cyclocross superstar Tim Johnson to further promote and support the sport we all love.

Specifically, $5 from the sale of each I Cowbell Cyclocross t-shirt will go into the Tim Johnson Mud Fund to support under-funded and deserving juniors and U23 racers when they compete domestically and internationally. In addition, the Mud Fund will continue to grow through sales of Tim Johnson & Chandler Delinks’ Das Pro Und The Rookie Cyclocross DVD.

“Providing scholarship funds will help alleviate some of the financial pressures kids face if they are not on a well financed junior or collegiate team. If the cost of getting to nationals, EuroCross Camp or an international race is covered, kids can focus on training and racing, rather than stressing out about how they will pay for the race,” said Tim Johnson.

“Increasing grassroots support in cyclocross is a great way for individuals to support each other and contribute to the future of the sport. I Cowbell Cyclocross is focused on selling t-shirts to support junior and U23 racers,” said Patricia Dowd, Cowbell West.

Rather than duplicating efforts, Cyclocrossworld.com, I Cowbell Cyclocross and the Tim Johnson Mud Fund have partnered to build grassroots support for races and racers.

“Cyclocrossworld.com is always looking for innovative ways to support grassroots junior and U23 riders and further support the next generation of cyclocross racers. Partnering with I Cowbell Cyclocross is a win, win for the sport,” said Stu Thorne, Cyclocrossworld.com.

Racers and fans can support cyclocross by buying a stylish t-shirt during New England’s Holy Week of Cyclocross, at races around the country and online.

More information on the Das Pro DVD will be released once DVDs are available for purchase and digital download. Stay tuned!
