Deerfield Township, Ohio – “Champions Of Cyclo-cross,” including current Elite Men’s US Champion Jeremy Powers, comes to Kingswood Park in Ohio this fall. Joining Jeremy Powers, Coach Chris Mayhew (one of our frequent contributors with articles like Five Ways to Start Running for ’Cross and How to Prep in the Offseason) and Eric Lundgren of JBV Coaching will be traveling to Ohio August 16th for a full day of cyclocross skills and tips. The weekend will kick off with a Q&A with Jeremy Powers and the coaches at Biowheels Bike Shop in Madeira at 7pm, and has expanded to include a Juniors-specific Clinic Saturday led by current National Champions 15-16 yr/old Spencer Petrov, 17-18 yr/old Champion K.K. Santos, and local stand-out Mackenzie Green. Space is very limited to maximize learning and participation of participants. Registration is open on www.Bikreg.com now!

We’ve written plenty about how a clinic can kickoff your season right, and plans for this one include a day of instruction that will “dramatically increase your abilities no matter what level you are starting from,” Mayhew says. “Our goal is to make sure every attendee leaves the clinic having had a good time and learned more than they thought they could.” Saturday will be a full day of on bike instruction with close supervision from the coaches. Skills to be covered will include dismounts, remounts, carries, sand pits, tire selection and pressure, cornering, off cambers, race day prep, starts, course inspection, clothing selection, and equipment choices.

Weekend organizers Scot and Julie Herrmann had this to say about the weekend: “Last year’s pre-season ’cross clinic was a great success and we wanted to build on that by adding another big name to the weekend this year. Through working with Chris Mayhew, we got the biggest in the sport in Jeremy Powers and expanded the offering with a Friday night Q&A session with Jeremy and the coaches. We also have great local support and partnerships that are highly invested in the sport. The Cincy3 organization, BioWheels Bike Shop, and Infinit Nutrition are all helping bring this event to the area. We are very excited about the full weekend of learning coming to the Midwest to unofficially kick off the ’cross season this fall.”
