The 2017 Telenet UCI World Cup in Bogense, Denmark served as a preview of the venue for the 2019 World Championships, and it also gave a number of Americans their first taste of European racing for the season. Ten Americans—seven women and three men—took to the start line in Bogense hoping for smooth sailing along the sea in Bogense.

The rutted, muddy climbs and drops on the course forced riders into frequent dismounts and running. The wind whipping along the course made for a tough afternoon with angry waves crashing near sections along the shore. All of these also made for some great visuals.

Photographer Bart Hazen has a gallery of photos that feature the American riders racing in Bogense and capture Sunday’s scene. So grab a coffee and … Danish … and enjoy this look back at Sunday’s race.
