Elite Men’s PodiumUSA Cycling’s 2008 Cyclocross National Championships in Kansas City has already begun, with the first race starting last night at midnight, CST in a competition for start order. Doing well in this early phase of the race required late night typing, a fast internet connection, and a little luck. Technical problems prevented some folks from getting in, as reported in our forums here. And 683 riders, as 7:30 am PST, had already successfully completed this warm-up race. The most popular categories? The Masters 40+ with 79 racers already registered, followed closely by the 35+ with 77 racers, and then the 45+ with 68.

Last year a record 2045 racers registered for the event (but due to weather and the need to sign up early, many did not show up). It looks like we’re on pace for record another year, at least in terms of sign ups and registration revenue.
