Northern and Southern California Set to Battle Jan. 16

The showdown to prove which region of California is the true ’cross powerhouse takes place on January 16, 2011, at Hart Park in Bakersfield, CA.

Event organizer Sam Ames of  Kern Wheelmen Bicycle Club claims that the race will be, “The hardest race, and possibly the best prize list ’cross race in California.”

To help compliment such claims, the race will provide  bagpipes, marching bands, beer and food, a $5000 prize list and most importantly, a very fast Euro course with an 80-meter run up and a flyover brigde complete with Belgian flags.

Ames plans to score the race by offering points to 50 places in each field. He will then tabulate and determine which region has the most points. This will create a true “team” arena and also means racers must focus on a sum of all results.
