The 2015 Georgia Gravel Race, The Southern Cross, was hit particularly hard. Just before the event was scheduled to kick off, Georgia joined the rest of the East Coast by getting hit with cruel wintry conditions which downed power lines, fell trees and churned the roads to impassible mud.

After weeks of park services restoring the trails, the race was finally rescheduled for last weekend. While the roads were relatively clear of debris, the winter storms clearly had a lasting effect on the course, with the promoter calling this year’s course “the toughest conditions [he’d] ever seen.”

The Gravel Cyclist captured all the gravel action. Once the riders left the pavement, it looks as if they spent the remainder of the race contending with a full blown muddy cyclocross course.
