We always have room for passionate folks who want to contribute to our little mission of celebrating and helping to grow our sport. If you have an idea or skill but don’t see an open position? If you want to join the crew or do an internship, just drop us a line with your idea to “jobs [at] cxmagazine.com”
Currently we have a few specific needs that can be filled locally (Bay Area) or remotely, part-time or full-time. If they sound like way more fun than your current daily grind, please send a resume and cover letter to jobs [at] cxmagazine.com. Writing samples are always helpful!
Editor/Production Interns
Interested in learning the ins and outs of a media company, with an active online and print audience? Help write and produce compelling content in diverse formats about a fun subject matter. Internships are non-paid but can be used for course credit. You’ll learn and utilize skills in editing, HTML, social media, content management and journalism.
Bike Geek / Tech Guru
Love to geek out with our legendary CXM Labs experiments? Got a few ideas for your own? Think you can write a bike profile than anyone? Dream of riding the latest equipment? Email [email protected] your resume and include sample review of one of your recent bike-related purchases, or send some pictures and a detailed profile of your own cyclocross machine. Bay Area geeks preferred.
Design
We can always use design help for print and digital materials. Contact us – Bay Area help needed but remote is possible as well. Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator experience needed, along with great project management skills. An eye for photography helps. Send us your portfolio. Bay Area candidates preferred.
Sales Executive:
Love cyclocross and want to work in the cycling industry? We’re looking for an account exec to join our small team who can help grow our business through sales of targeted print and interactive advertising packages to cycling brands, agencies, race promoters, bicycle stores, and more. Previous advertising or other sales experience preferred, but a passion for the sport and desire to learn, make money and have fun are what’s important. This is the perfect position for a college student who loves cycling and wants to earn valuable business experience while still in school.
Expectations:
•Identify, engage, and execute advertising agreements with target customers
•Spend 10-20 hours per week on average on building relationships and growing the business
•Maintain accurate forecasts and records in company CRM
•Attend weekly sales meeting (by phone)
•Billing and follow-up
•Strong communication skills, honesty and attention to detail are required
You’ll earn commissions on each sale and help contribute to the growth and continued success of Cyclocross Magazine. Sound interesting? If so, send your resume to jobs [at] cxmagazine.com with “Sales Exec” and your name in the subject line. This is a contract, commission-only sales position.
Notes: There are certainly many perks to working for a bicycle industry startup, but please keep in mind we’re a very small operation with a shoestring budget. Your efforts can go a long way to changing that, however. Also, we do appreciate proactive communication from motivated candidates. We need more help because we are far too stretched thin – so don’t be afraid to follow up with us if you don’t hear back.
