Andrew Schmidt has always been one of our favorite interviewees, so when he took second in the 13-14 race on Friday, we had to catch up with him, and as usual, he didn’t disappoint.

On the high winds… We started to go on the off-camber section after the stairs, and I was coming around it and a gust of wind caught my wheel and I flipped over.” “I was having trouble remounting because it was so windy.

On his race… I dropped back to like fifth or sixth and clawed my way back up to third. I was going for it. I was trying to catch the lead.

On what’s next… I think I’ll go the junior party, have some fun. Maybe I’ll indulge myself with some candy.

I couldn't be more proud. This kid is the definition of a true warrior. He never gives up, always fights back, and he rewards himself when he's done :) by indulging himself with candy :) well done Andy!
