Low Pressure Promotions, LLC has teamed up with the Seattle-based Starbucks Cycling Team to host the 2009 Starbucks Gran Prix of Cyclocross to take place on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah, WA.

“Since the formation of our new cyclocross series, Low Pressure Promotions desired partnering with other local promoters to be a part of MFG Cyclocross. We are excited to work with Brian Tucker and the Starbucks Cycling Team,” said Low Pressure Promotions co-founder Zac Daab.

Starbucks Cycling hosted the inaugural Starbucks Gran Prix of Cyclocross in 2008, as a stand alone event. “We are thrilled to be a part of a new Seattle ‘cross series this season, and look forward to another successful event in 2009, ” said Starbucks Cycling vice president Brian Tucker.

Lake Sammamish State Park is located just minutes off of I-90, and in bike-able distance from the heart of Seattle. Washington State Park Rangers John Johns and Heath Yeates have been extremely supportive of the event, with Lake Sammamish State Park hosting many action sports events throughout the year. The course will feature European beach sections, as well as grass and pavement terrain around the grounds of the park, for fast and competitive racing.

Unique to the Starbucks Gran Prix is the partnership with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), based in Seattle, WA. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance unites the doctors from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children’s to form a world-class treatment center that provides advanced therapies and clinical studies for cancers and other blood disorders.

As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, proceeds from the event will go towards treatment and care for breast cancer patients of SCCA. Throughout the event at Lake Sammamish, there will be cancer awareness themes, literature, course-specific highlights, and even a category of racing for cancer survivors.

“At each MFG Cyclocross race, we are featuring our “Category du Jour”, with the intention of encouraging participating from group of people who may not have heard or known about cyclocross. I am a cancer survivor and thought it would be very appropriate to unite other cancer survivors at Starbucks Gran Prix,” said Low Pressure Promotions co-founder Terry Buchanan.

The MFG Cyclocross series consists of six races, all within an hour drive of Seattle. The series finale will take place at Seattle’s Woodland Park. The confirmed schedule includes:
