In late 2011, we took a ride on the Ritte Steeplechase Disc, a frame with an eclectic mix of steel and carbon that appeared to defy convention: A bike that wanted to push the envelope for cyclocross riders across the United States.

Over three years later, Ritte is back at it again with their aluminum Crossberg, and today we offer Clifford Lee's full review of the frame and build from Issue 28. For extensive reviews just like this one, be sure to order your backcopy today, which is also available on Uberflip, in the App Store on iTunes, and on Google Play for Android.

The Build:

The Ritte Crossberg is available as a frame and fork from Ritte, but the Crossberg sent for review came completely outfitted with a SRAM Force 22 Hydro R group with 46/36 chainrings and an 11-28 1170 cassette and chain. The Force hydraulic brakes are paired with 160mm front and 140mm rear Centerline rotors that are mounted to Stan’s NoTubes IronCross wheels, set up reliably with tubeless Kenda Slant Six 32c SCT tires without sealant.

As for the cockpit, the Ritte was built with a Ritchey WCS 4-axis stem and a WCS Curve compact bar; the bike also came equipped with a 27.2mm diameter WCS carbon link seatpost topped with a Fizik Antares Versus saddle.
The whole package put together was 18.6 lbs., but more remarkably, 11.75 lbs. without wheels.
