KTM is a well-known Austrian maker of motorcycles including dirt bikes, street bikes and road racing rockets. Most people don't know the brand has been making bicycles since the 60s, and now features a race-worthy cyclocross bike. Although the motorsports and cycling brands are now different companies, they still share the same logo and iconic orange color scheme.

Cyclocross Magazine rode and reviewed KTM's 2015 Canic CXC cyclocross bike and we were impressed although lamented the odd choice of the 135mm thru axle. For 2017, KTM has its new Canic CXC 11 carbon cyclocross bike available and has addressed our biggest complaint.

With a US-based office in Miami, FL, KTM is seeking to expand its visibility and availability to North American buyers. Its models are available direct-to-consumer via their website, have been seen on prominent online retailer websites, and now KTM is also seeking local dealers. The bike featured here is in fact, inspired by Austrian National Champion Walter Obersberger who raced and won in the 1970s.

The Canic CXC features high-modulus carbon with KTM's F8 carbon fork with a carbon steerer. The bike has internal cable routing and comes with a SRAM Force CX1 11-speed group. Rear axle spacing is 142x12mm and the disc brakes have 140mm rotors at both ends. DT Swiss X 1700 wheels roll on Schwalbe X-One rubber. The Canic CXC is shod with KTM's house brand seatpost, bar and stem with a Fizik Tundra saddle.

Claimed weight is 8.2 kg (18.07 lbs) for a size 52 and available sizes are 49-52-55-57-59mm. The MSRP of the KTM Canic CXC 11 is $4,895.00 USD. For buyers on a budget, the Canic is also available in a CXA version with the "A" standing for an aluminum frame.
