After a wild and muddy start to the 2019 Chicago Cross Cup at Indian Lakes, the series returns this Sunday, October 6, at Hopkins Park CX in DeKalb. The annual race is hosted by Chicago’s Comrade Cycles, whose manifesto for the weekend includes fun and great cyclocross racing.

Hopkins Park CX takes place at, duh, Hopkins Park, located just east of Northern Illinois University in the college town of DeKalb. Chicagoans can hop on I-88 to jet out to the race, while those in the suburbs may find Route 38 or 64 scenic routes through the northern Illinois cornfields.

The course at Hopkins Park is typically a flowing track with barriers and logs helping break up some of the fast racing. Comrade Cycles’ Josh Arends redesigns the course each year, so this year’s track will likely have something a bit different for long-time Chicago Cross Cup racers.

The race schedule for Hopkins Park CX will follow the 2019 CCC daily schedule, with the first races starting at 8 a.m.

While the racing on the course will be fast, off the course, Dave’s Slow Food will be on-site to provide noms for racers and spectators.

Pre-registration for the 2019 Hopkins Park CX is open through Thursday night, and day-of registration closes 30 minutes before each race. Call-ups are given for pre-registered riders and day-of reg costs an additional $10, so sign up today.
