We had a chance to visit Cateye at the 2016 Sea Otter Classic and got the lowdown on the company's latest light and bicycle computer offerings.

In terms of lights, Cateye's Volt 700 is one of our favorite lights of all time and won a 2015 Editor's Choice Award for best light with a 10 to 15 hour run time and interchangeable rechargeable batteries. The new, smaller 400 lumen Volt 400 and new, larger 800 lumen versions were on show at this year's Sea Otter Classic.

Both utilize a secure mount and offer easy removal. The 800 model has five modes giving the light a run time of two to up to a claimed 80 hours. The 400 lumen light doesn't offer the 800's cartridge battery, but is still USB rechargeable and offers five light modes.

At the other end of the spectrum, is Cateye's new Volt 6000. Yes, 6000 lumens to turn night into day. The light has six modes and will run for an hour at full intensity or as long as 12 hours in "all-night mode," which is 500 lumens. With multiple mounting options and a remote switch, the Volt 6000 is poised to be your main light for night rides.

Of course, Cateye offers taillights as well.  The Rapid X series of lights, or what Cateye calls safety lights, feature front and rear options with USB rechargeable batteries and a safety mode where once the battery runs down low, the light's mode switches to flashing as its "Auto Save" mode to ensure an extra hour of functionality.

Lights aside, we also saw Cateye's Padrone bike computer. The wireless Padrone's screen is 85% larger than the previous version and features typical functionality for non-GPS computer units, perfect for those looking for data like speed, distance, time and averages of those data points. And for the style conscious rider, the Padrone comes in a number of colors.

There's also the newest model of the Padrone Smart+, the  CC-SC100B. The new unit offers multiple customizable data screens and navigation using Cateye's application paired with your phone's GPS or Bluetooth sensors. Rides can be uploaded to Cateye's own CateyeAtlas, Strava and TrainingPeaks.
