Men: Clash of the Cyclocross Titans

In an absolute epic edition of De Brabantse Pijl, the final cobbled classic of the 2021 spring season, Ineos Grenadiers’ Tom Pidcock overtook Jumbo Visma’s Wout van Aert and sprinted to victory, his biggest win since beginning his first season as a road pro.

Pidcock’s rapid rise to road stardom now arguably rivals that of Van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel.

Matteo Trentin (UAE Team Emirates) rounded out the podium for third. Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroen) and Dylan Teuns (Bahrain Victorious) made a valiant effort to close the gap, but it was not to be and they eventually finished in 8th and 9th place, seven seconds down.

Women: Down to the Wire

In a thrilling photo finish between SD Worx’s Demi Vollering and Trek Segafredo’s Ruth Winder, we saw the American take the win in a bunch sprint and huge victory by millimeters after Vollering celebrated a little too soon!

Cyclocross World Champion and Winder’s teammate Lucinda Brand came in 9th with American Tayler Wiles (Trek Segafredo) in 11th.

Two previous Cyclocross World Champs in Thalita de Jong and Sanne Cant also took the start.
