After the 2017 Singlespeed World Championships in Verona, Italy, we heard world the 2018 race might be headed to the Motherland of Cyclocross, perhaps even to the hometown of 2016 second-place finisher Stan Nice.

Sometimes rumors are true. The 12th SSCXWC will be held in Belgium in the Wallonian city of Tournai this November 9-11. If you plan on attending, it’s a good time to brush up on your French. Wallonia is the French-spaking part of Belgium, Tournai sits just across the border from the famed cycling city of Roubaix.

The Belgian SSCXWC is being organized by the Singlespeed Belgique organization. Also taking place in Tournai that weekend is the GoGo Hellcross race, which looks like an interesting way to help raise money for brain tumor support.

The event organizers had this to say about the location:

Also known as Doornik in Flemish language, the Wallonian (French-speaking part of Belgium) city sits nearby the French border, ideally placed between Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and London.

The historical city center is quite lively and appealing, and the Flandrian bergs and Paris-Roubaix cobbles are within a riding distance!

The event has a Facebook page (although there doesn’t seem to be much there yet).
