The Champion System MAC Series will be providing additional incentive for Women competitors at this week’s First State Velo Sport Xross with top-to-bottom parity between the Elite Men’s and Women’s cash purses.  Series organizers are also offering a one-time $50 start bonus to the highest-ranking Cat. 3 woman in the Champions System MAC standings who elects to “cat up” and enter the Elite Women’s race at the Fair Hill Natural Resource Area.

Though located in Maryland, the closest municipality to the 5,633 acre Fair Hill Natural Resource Area nature reserve is Newark, Delaware, home of the University of Delaware.  The reserve has a vast and diversified network of mountain bike trails that many riders say is among the best cross country riding in the East.  Traditionally, the First State Velo Sport Xross has been held at the county Fairgrounds inside the reserve, but this year the race will take place about one mile closer to Delaware in another portion of the reserve that’s never previously hosted cyclocross racing.

The race takes place Saturday, November 6 and, with the recent changes to the Champion System MAC finals in Long Island, will be the first of three consecutive USA Cycling-sanctioned races to end the season and determine the 2010 MAC season champions.
