Tire Review: Vittoria Cross XG Pro 34 Cyclocross Tire Review

Racing and Riding Impressions: With a similar tread to the Challenge Grifo, the Vittoria XG Pro has a universal tread pattern that’s been proven over the years. Although undersized compared to their listed measurements, the 34mm size offers a good volume for lower rolling resistance over bumpy terrain. The smaller knobs and gray rubber may wear a little faster than other clinchers on hardpack and pavement, but as a racing tire, the XG is a great choice. At 120 TPI, the tires are not as supple as the similarly-treaded Challenge tires but are more affordable. The XG is also available in a 32c width, but go with the 34mm for all but the smoothest courses. The XG Pro is one of the better all-around race tires, and as with Challenge, you can train on this tire and race on Vittoria’s tubular version.

Thanks for the tour de tires!!! This series kicks ass. The MOST critical component on your cross hog is your tires. This website is a great place to start. Thanks again.

@JPCRIBARI glad you like it - most of these were reviews of older tires that we've been dying to get up to build a good, comprehensive resource, but we have a ton more coming - stay tuned! we could even do a back-to-back tour!
