We just wanted to give an update to the folks who read Todd Wells’ appeal for votes in the GOOD.is competition to Reinvent the Outdoors, and then voted for him and the Sonoran Desert Mountain Bikers. Wells’ mission was to aid SDMB in protecting, growing, and preserving mountain bike trails and we are happy to say: Mission Completed.

Yesterday, the results came out and Wells emerged victorious. We knew he was a great racer, but it turns out that Wells is also a champion fundraiser! GOOD.is said, “With SDMB president Brian Vance and champion rider Todd Wells helping rally thousands of votes of support, this amazing group pulled ahead in a race filled with worthy competitors. We’re proud to announce that they’ll be taking home the $50,000 grant to continue their work protecting mountain and desert trails from development.” Read more about the contest on GOOD.is.

Wells wanted to extend his gratitude to the Cyclocross Magazine community, saying:
“I am excited, pleased and humbled to have helped SDMB win the $50,000 FORD grant in the Reinventing the Outdoors contest put on by GOOD.is. I would like to thank all the Cyclocross Magazine readers for voting and helping us come out on top. With so many deserving causes and celebrity endorsers, I honestly didn’t think we stood a chance. I think this contest has shown the volume and strength of the cycling community and what can be achieved when we act together for a common cause.”
