The Gateway Cross Cup Returns International Cyclocross Racing to University City

This fall International professional cycling returns to St. Louis with the Gateway Cross Cup, Saturday and Sunday, October 26th and 27th at Heman Park in University City. Initially a one day, midweek competition, the Gateway Cross Cup now features two days of internationally sanctioned professional and amateur racing over Halloween Weekend.

The racing starts in the morning both days for local and regional racers of all ages and abilities. A 1.7 kilometer course, approximately 1 mile in length, will be laid out in Heman Park that takes advantage of the naturally challenging terrain and provide great viewing for spectators. An expo of bicycle and outdoor products vendors will provide entertainment.

There will be food and beverages available including concessions presented by restaurants from the nearby LOOP neighborhood. Sunday will feature a Halloween 5K on the race course at 3:40 pm benefitting St. Louis Children’s Hospital cancer charities.

The Elite Women and Elite Men will be racing under the lights at 6:50 pm and 8:10 pm on Saturday evening and at 3:30 pm and 4:50 pm on Sunday.

The Gateway Cross Cup is an extension of CrossVegas, returning to St. Louis for the third edition in 2013. Both races are part of the “Cross after Dark” national cyclocross series that unites several nighttime races.
