Flashback Friday: 1985 Video of Radcross in Aachen, Germany

For this week’s Flashback Friday, we’ve got a great cyclocross race video sent to our attention by a reader from the Radcross race in 1985 held in Gillesbachtal, Aachen, Germany.

Video: Radcross in Aachen, Germany. 1985.

Video: Radcross in Aachen, Germany. 1985.

Much was different back then, including metal toe clips, leather hairnets and Mafac brakes.

Yet some things were much the same, including muddy, challenging cyclocross courses with lots of vertical and off-cambers.

Enjoy.

Why did they set the pit up on an off camber hill? It's hilarious to see the pit crews trying to recover the bikes without falling in front of the oncoming riders.

I like all the black shorts. We should go back to that.

@David Bussey The best shot of the tires is in the powerwash scene.  Knobbies in this case but pretty thin tires
