I should clarify. It's closer to 1983 in Europe in regards to women's racing. I don't remember the race, but this year in Italy there was a road rahce where cars were on the course. Vos and many of the other top riders quit in protest. We are very fortunate for the opportunities of equality in this country, but it's a different world out there.

I'm pretty sure if an elite woman that has been competitive in the US UCI races wants to attend that she has that option. Figure on plunking down 3k if you want to go. With team budgets spread thin, I'm not sure that's an option for a lot of riders. Plus, if a rider makes the worlds team, they'll have to come up with similar funding. And in regards to junior girls, until recently, many of the big events didn't field a woman's race. It's closer to 1983, than 2013.

Now let's get some more women *and* some junior girls on this list.

I'm thrilled to see the list and that it includes 2 Elite women! However, saddened that this is terribly lopsided gender-wise considering we are in the year 2013.
