We caught up with Arley Kemmerer after her win on Sunday at Nittany (and a third place finish on Saturday).

On her win… “I’m really excited. This win was exactly what I needed right now.”

On the race… “My bars dropped right at the start, which is always awesome. About a minute later, I got stung in the head by a bee… And so, when I finally got that straightened out, I finally caught back on to Laura and Gabby and just waited. We sat around too much yesterday so I didn’t want to do that again. I put in a couple attacks, then went to the back and hung out.”

“I was fourth wheel going into the log on the last lap. I left space that time, thank God, because Laura and Gabby ran right into each other and I was able to dismount and go right by. So it was Nikki and I, and I was yelling, ‘Go, we have a gap!’ They caught us, I attacked on the back stretch, then attacked again at the barriers. Laura caught me, and then it was Laura and I. She had to take an outside line and I took an inside line and got a small gap.”

On strategy… “I took a lot of risks in those corners but it worked out. I went really hot into those turns, so it could have gone either way.”
