A week of rain provided tacky conditions for the earlier races, but course had nearly dried out, save for a small section of muddy section near the barriers, by the time the Men’s and Women’s 1/2 races got underway.

Voler CX rider and Masters 34-39 World Champion Russell Stevenson claimed the hole shot and led the Men’s 1/2 race from the word GO. Russell rode with a small group during the the first half of the race before pulling away, leaving a small group of four to chase. Kevin Noiles (HRS Rock Lobster Bay 101) and Dale Gain (Cyclocrossracing.com) rounding out the podium.

Courtney McFadden (Bicycle Bluebook, HRS, Rock Lobster,) took the win in a Women’s race that played out in similar fashion. Sections of course caused bottlenecks allowing for gaps in both fields. Jessica Cutler (Bikesport NW/ Jamis) and Jenni Gaertner followed close behind McFadden to rounded out the podium.

The MFG Cyclocross season continues in three weeks at the Lake Sammamish GP on September 29th.
