US Pro cyclocrosser Mary McConneloug (Kenda – Seven Cycles) took the win yesterday at the Merida Bike Vysocina S1 race in Nové Mesto na Morave,  Czech Republic. The cross country race, which also served as an event in the Czech National Mountain Biking Cup, saw McConneloug blast ahead of the competition on the 4.1km-lap course, taking the top step with over a minute to spare. The official website reports: “International racers took over the second stage of the Merida Bike Vysočina. The surprisingly strong competition from foreign stars seized the entire podium…McConneloug’s victory was masterful. The American proved difficult to track, and took full advantage of the innovative 29-inch wheels.

No word from McConneloug on her performance, but hubby Mike Broderick was understandably proud, as his twitter feed shows: “Mary just took the overall at the Merida bike C1 race! 23rd for me. Tougher than it looked to be. A fantastic bike experience overall!”
