KINGSPORT, TENN. – Travis Livermon (Mock Orange Racing) soloed to victory today in Tennessee’s late-season Kingsport Cyclocross Cup, stretching out a gap of almost 30 seconds over Alec Donahue (Wheelhouse-NCC Cycling Team), who rode to second place. Adam Myerson (Cycle-Smart), enjoying perhaps his best cyclocross season in a long career, rounded out the podium in third. Robert Marion (Carpe Diem Racing) finished meters behind Myerson in fourth, just off the podium. “Rumor and Rumblings” writer and Cyclocross Magazine‘s own Kat Statman slotted into 18th place.
In the women’s race, Kimberly Flynn (Scenic City Velo) rode in alone for her win as well, while Annajean Dallaire was able to just hold off Meghan Korol (Bob’s Red Mill) for second.
Despite being a UCI C2 event, the Elite women’s field had just eight finishers, while the men’s field had 24. Most of the top Americans are in Europe preparing for the final World Cups and the World Championships, and it looks like the rest of the cyclocross peloton has largely hung their bikes up for the season. How much of a harbringer this is for a January Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin, next year remains to be seen.
