ENVE (formerly Edge Composites) always has a great display of custom, one-off cyclocross bikes in its booth to showcase manufacturers and racers who use its carbon components. We spent some time with Molly Cameron’s carbon Independent Fabrications cyclocross rig, a carbon lugged frame complete with Di2, Shimano PRO cockpit, and of course, an ENVE fork.
The frame is the first of its kind, and reminds us a bit of Nys’ old Colnago C-50 frames but with some fancy lugs and modern componentry. Two parts that stood out to us were Molly’s XTR prototype pedals, and her TRP CX9 mini v-brakes.
The TRP CX9 brakes, reviewed in Issue 10, offer great stopping power and modulation, but reduced pad clearance – a potential issue in Molly’s often-muddy Portland area. Cheer Molly (and all the other races on) via our Live Coverage of Cross Vegas.
