UCI Cyclocross Series Returns to North America

The USCX Series Expands to Three Months in Four Host Cities

The US has had a long but inconsistent history of top-level competitive cyclocross series. Some of the better known series include the Saturn Supercup from 1999 to 2002 and the USGP cyclocross series from 2004 to 2012. We’ve also seen the NACT series and US Cup CX attempt to connect promoters and being prestige to a group of races.

The USCX Cyclocross Series continues the American cyclocross series history. For 2022, organizers have revealed the series’ races. The four-race series will be returning to North America for the second year with two new races added to the series.

However, there is some caveat to the additional races being added. Jingle Cross, which has been canceled and Kings CX have been removed from the 2022 series.

Virginia’s Blue Ridge Go Cross presented by Deschutes Brewery, and the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross both recently upgraded to the UCI Class 1 status for 2022 and will round out the schedule and complete the series.

The series spans three months in four cities. Four cities whose cyclocross history runs thick and rich, like the mud underneath the tires on race day.

New for 2022, the USCX Series has committed to a $15,000 overall purse. The purse will be split equally at $7,500 for Men & $7,500 for Women.

The series re-formatted its points structure to give additional points to the top 3 in each race. The series points and leader board will be hosted on uscx.us throughout the series for all elite and amateur competing athletes.

The final phases of negotiations are underway to create a live broadcast for each event.

“Offering live streaming of all the UCI Elite USCX races is a step in the right direction for the series,” says Meehan.

USCX Series featured exciting finishes

“Our overall goal is to host four weekends of premier racing for both elite and amateur fields in the amazing sport of cyclocross,” said Page. “We want to give these incredible athletes the platform they need, and we believe integrating these four events does that.”

The USCX cyclocross series schedule begins in Roanoke Virginia at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Go Cross on September 17th & 18th, then travels to Rochester, New York for the second event in the series, Rochester Cyclocross on September 24th & 25th. The series then moves to Charm City in Baltimore, Maryland the following weekend of October 1st & 2nd and concludes five weeks later in Falmouth Massachusetts at the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross on November 5th & 6th.
