RobODeaPhotography_web-6022.jpg Boulder, CO – Todd Wells (GT) took his first UCI cyclocross win of the season by beating an under-the-weather NACT series leader, Ryan Trebon (Kona) at Day 1 the Boulder Cup, the fifth race of the eight race NACT series. Tim Johnson (Cannondale – Cyclocrossworld), holding second place in the series, joined Trebon in the chase of Wells and valuable series points, but crashed in the sandpit late in the race, and had to settle for third.

In the women’s race, Georgia Gould (Luna) took the hole shot and never looked back. The closest challenger was Rachel Lloyd (Cal Giant – Specialized), who overcame a first-lap crash, chased valiantly, and rode the long sandy beach section while the others ran, but each lap, the running Gould gained time. Kerry Barnholt of Tokyo Joes finished third after outdueling Kelli Emmett (Giant).
