We been watching decade-old race videos again. This time it’s the 2005 Elite Women’s World Championship race from Sankt Wendel, Germany that caught our attention.

The Elite Women’s title was taken by German Hanka Kupfernagel who won on home soil and who finished ahead of her countrywoman Sabine Spitz and The Netherlands’ Mirjam Melchers.

In 2005, the Elite Women’s competition was just five years old, having only come about in 2000. For the Americans, Ann Knapp had a string of top-ten results in those early years, including the seventh place she scored in the 2005 edition. If the Knapp name sounds familiar, we featured Ann’s husband Dale in a Throwback Thursday piece not too long ago.

The video seen below was posted to YouTube by Wesley VDB on February 11 of this year.

Take a break from your busy day and watch this snowy edition of the Cyclocross World Championships. And catch all our other Throwback Thursday pieces here.
