For Throwback Thursday, let’s go to the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Heusden-Zolder—the 2002 edition.

Huge crowds lined the course as it was an all-Belgian affair on the Elite Men’s podium. Mario de Clercq took the win ahead of Tom Vannoppen and one Sven Nys, while the Women’s Elite race was taken by France’s Laurence Leboucher. Thijs Verhagen of The Netherlads won the U23 Men’s race, and a young Kevin Pauwels of Belgium took the victory in the Junior Men’s event.

Take a break from work and watch the 2002 Elite Men’s event to get ready for this weekend’s 2016 UCI Cyclocross World Championships.
